Since antiquity the rooster has been a sacred animal in many cultures.
The ancient Greeks believed the rooster’s hearty morning crow saluted the sun and chased away the night. The rooster was a sacred symbol of Zeus, king of the gods, and of Apollo, the sun god.
It was also a symbol of renewal, fertility and healing. Asclepius, the god of healing, would occasionally visit his patients in their dreams in the guise of a rooster.
“I chose the rooster as my logo because it is a familiar and much-beloved feature of the traditional Greek countryside.”
